ARABESQUE GUITAR DUO

GUITARS AND TRANSCRIPTIONS

Arabesque n.1
C. Debussy/tr. A. Rinaudo

BIO

The Arabesque Guitar Duo is a guitar duo formed by Andrea Rinaudo and Alberto Lauro.

The ensemble specializes in the transcription and arrangement of some of the twentieth century’s greatest piano masterpieces.

The duo was founded in the winter of 2023, following the recording sessions for the album Margola: Chamber Sonatas for Guitar by Ensemble Counterpoint (Brilliant Classics, 2024).

They made their concert debut in December of the same year at the OttoFinestre Gallery in Turin.

Among the institutions and organizations they have performed for are the Fondazione per la Cultura di Torino, the Fondazione CRS of Saluzzo, and the Accademia della Liuteria Piemontese.

In 2025, they published a critical edition of Franco Margola’s Sonata dC 661 with Musica Practica (Voglino Editrice). In the same year, they released two music videos with Siccas Guitars: C. Debussy’s Arabesque No. 1 (transcribed by Andrea Rinaudo) and Erik Satie’s Gymnopédie No. 1 (transcribed by Alberto Lauro).

They are currently focusing on composers such as E. Satie, C. Debussy and B. Bartók, exploring new interpretative perspectives through the sound possibilities of the guitar.

PROJECTS

DIVERTISSMENT

Music and Dance

Music has always been closely connected with dance and entertainment.

In this journey through twentieth-century piano music, we explore this dimension, with French music taking a central role, deeply influenced by the Pascalian concept of divertissement.

From Satie’s dances, originally conceived for the cabarets of Montmartre, to Bartók’s Romanian Folk Dances, transcribed and recorded by the composer himself, and Debussy’s Suite Bergamasque, a collection of dances in the more cultivated sense of the term, this program offers a journey through the world of dance in instrumental music.

Duration: 60 minutes

Through arrangements of some of the greatest peaks of twentieth-century piano music and beyond, new interpretative possibilities full of rhythm and colour are revealed.

The attentive reading involved in the transcription process leads the performers to lay the composers’pages bare, seeking the close relationships between sounds and notes. In a subtle interplay of colour and understanding, the Arabesque Guitar Duo aims to bring the charm and mystery of the chamber-music dimension into a repertoire that is by nature soloistic, built on mutual understanding, synergies and exchange.

Duration: approximately 60 minutes
